Position Overview The ideal candidate has a strong background in financial services, accounting, or a related environment and can demonstrate an ability to balance detail with broader issues, in both written and oral communication. The primary responsibilities include reviewing diligence, preparing transaction memos and underwriting reports, developing financial models, assisting in deal closings, and managing a portfolio of accounts. Candidates are able to draw thoughtful conclusions based on their analysis of new transactions and portfolio accounts and can effectively communicate their findings both internally and externally. An Associate candidate should have a working knowledge of the practical application of the loan documentation. A strong work ethic, proactive approach to problem solving, team‑first attitude, and comfort with autonomy / responsibility are critical for success. This role will be based in our Chicago, Illinois office and will have a hybrid work schedule. Core Responsibilities Identify and analyze investment merits and underwriting risks Manage financial modeling Organize, review, and present transaction due diligence Conduct industry research to supplement third‑party reports Support the underwriting and syndication of credit facilities, including: Preparation of written documents (diligence question lists, internal screening memos, underwriting memos, term sheets, lender presentations, etc.) Communication with transaction stakeholders (senior and subordinated lenders, the private equity sponsor, and the target company) Assistance in the legal documentation and closing process Active participation in investment committee meetings Proactive problem solving, client interaction, and active daily management of a portfolio of accounts (e.g., spreading financial data, validating compliance certificates, quarterly valuations, co‑managing amendment processes, etc.) Requirements 1-3 years of experience in a financial, accounting, or related environment Robust analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Deep understanding of accounting and financial analysis with a proficiency in financial modeling Comfortable interacting with sponsors, management, investors, and other key external partners Ability to multi‑task and manage time and workload efficiently in a fast‑paced environment Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and proactive by nature Demonstrate effective working relationship with teammates Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance Flexible spending accounts (dependent care, healthcare, limited purpose FSA) Accident and Critical Illness insurance Long Term Disability insurance Competitive 401(k) benefits Pet healthcare savings program Member’s Only Healthcare - healthcare navigation WellHub - corporate wellness platform $10,000 lifetime reimbursement for family forming services (e.g., IVF, adoption, surrogacy) Rocket Lawyer legal benefits Reimbursement of professional society memberships and exam fees Up to $10,000 matching annually for contributions to qualified non‑for‑profit organizations Parental leave Compensation: Approximately $120,000 to $150,000 base salary with a target bonus of 40%-65% of base salary (dependent on prior experience and performance in the role).
