Radiologic Technologist I

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations. The role does not require constant supervision and involves performing essential job functions. Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and providing immobilization devices. Selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Selects and operates equipment as required for specific procedures. Restricts the radiation beam through collimating devices to minimize exposure to unaffected parts of the patient. Performs portable x-ray examinations in various locations including patient rooms and operating rooms. Follows operational procedures to correctly identify patient films and marks them as needed. Develops exposed x-ray films using available processing methods. Completes patient requisitions with necessary details including the technologist's initials and date. Maintains an orderly x-ray room per the department's directives. Prepares radiopaque contrast media for physicians to administer to patients. Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments and film filing. Aids patients in moving, turning, and getting on and off the x-ray tables according to individual needs. Meets the physical demands of lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 10 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 6 hours per day. Identifies and addresses the specific needs of the patient population served. Communicates effectively with patients and caregivers at an appropriate level for understanding. Adheres to established organizational competencies and standards.
