Company background: Health & Benefits Partners offers small group health insurance to businesses with 100 or fewer employees. Our team are experts dedicated to helping businesses find insurance plans that are suited to their employees’ needs and to the company’s budget. We are independent brokers who work with all of the major insurance carriers. Health & Benefits Partners office is in East Norriton, PA.
Role Summary: This role is responsible for day-to-day service and operational management of assigned client accounts, while supporting the Sales Executive who leads sales, strategy, renewals, and overall client relationship direction. You will work with another account professional supporting approximately 200 client groups, requiring strong prioritization, organization, and responsiveness in a high-volume environment. This is not a sales role and does not include responsibility for upselling, cross-selling, or revenue generation. This position is for someone with insurance experience, who would like to learn quickly in a challenging and fast paced environment. This role is best suited for someone who excels at executing a high volume of detailed, repeatable tasks with accuracy and consistency and would like to do so over a long period of time. Areas of Responsibility:
Sales support:
● Be assigned to and support a Sales Executive (Also known as Account Executive or Benefits Consultant) likely along with one other account team member.
● Schedule meetings for the Sales Executive you are supporting.
● Prepare materials for your Sales Executive’s prospect and client presentations.
● Assist in the management and retention of the assigned book of business.
● Participate in client meetings as needed, supporting the Sales Executive and helping ensure follow-through on client needs.
● Present by email or phone coverage to clients, organize responses, and produce spreadsheets and other related items while verifying their accuracy.
● Support the renewal process by gathering data, preparing materials, providing client information, coordinating logistics, creating renewal proposals, and handling other renewal activities in partnership with the Sales Executive, who leads renewal strategy and client discussions.
● Request insurance quotes from various carriers and coordinate paperwork with client to enroll in new carriers.
● Enter information into systems in order to get quotes for your Sales Executive for prospective and renewing clients (The majority will be with Blue Cross, some with Aetna and the remainder with other carriers.)
● Analyze quotes to ensure completeness and that they match the prospect’s or client’s demographics and their requested services.
● Communicate information, issues, and concerns on a timely basis to your Sales Executive.
Client related:
● Enter and maintain client demographic and insurance data within internal and external systems, Such as Salesforce, Ease, Employee Navigator, and health insurance carrier and client portals.
● Handle day-to-day client management including assisting client company’s employees in enrolling for their benefits (primarily group health insurance).
● Communicate via email and phone with business clients about their insurance matters (roughly 75% will be by email and 25% by phone).
● Handle client questions, issues, and plan terminations.
● Assist clients with compliance and refer them to preferred vendors (ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA) as needed and appropriate.
Improvement related:
§ Develop, document, and improve procedures, workflows, and checklists related to your role.
§ Develop your abilities to use ChatGPT or other LLMs to enhance your work abilities.
Required Skills & Experience:
● Minimum 3-5 years professional customer facing insurance office experience.
● A health insurance license is a plus or a willingness to study for and earn an insurance license within a year of employment. (H&BP will assist you in this and pay for any related expenses. You will also earn a bonus upon successfully obtaining the license.)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
● Direct experience with group health insurance, carriers, or benefits administration is strongly preferred but not required.
Education Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Soft Skills Requirements:
● Excellent verbal and written (email) communication skills.
● Strong desire to work with business clients in a high-volume customer service environment.
● Friendly and engaging demeanor as candidate would be speaking with prospects, clients, insurance carriers, management, and internal team members frequently.
● Highly organized, yet flexible in dealing with shifting priorities, fluctuating workloads, and evolving procedures.
● Ability to work independently with limited supervision, while maintaining positive staff relationships within a team work environment.
Software Skills Required:
● Experience using health insurance industry software such as Ease or other insurance carrier platforms is a plus but not required.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
● Business use of Zoom or Teams for video calls with clients.
● Prior use of business chat software like Slack or Teams. (We use Teams.)
● A general technology/computer bent such that researching, learning, and sharing new software and hardware tools is something you excel at and enjoy doing.

● This role reports to the Sales Executive leading your designated team.
