1st Class GMAW Welder – Day Shift
Location: Lockport, LA
Type: Full-Time
Summary
Seeking an experienced 1st Class GMAW Welder for a shipyard environment. Responsibilities include performing short arc MIG welding on structural steel and marine components, reading blueprints, and producing quality welds that meet company and customer standards.
Must-Haves
- 3+ years of GMAW (MIG) short arc welding experience
- Shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial welding background
- Ability to pass a weld test
- Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols
- Experience welding carbon steel in multiple positions
- Strong safety awareness and reliable attendance
Preferred
- Shipyard or marine construction experience
- FCAW experience
- Structural steel fabrication experience
- Welding certifications (AWS, NCCER, etc.)
- Experience with grinders, torches, and fabrication tools
5 Qualifying Questions
- How many years of GMAW short arc welding experience do you have?
- Have you worked in a shipyard or marine environment?
- Can you read blueprints and weld symbols?
- Are you able to pass a hands-on weld test?
- Are you comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and outdoors?
