University of Colorado Anschutz Department: School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (APP)/(PA/NP/APRN)/Medicine/Medical Oncology /Instructor of Clinical Practice Position #: 00848265 – Requisition #40102 Job Summary Applications are sought for a 1.0 FTE full-time faculty clinical position with benefits Instructor of Clinical Practice/NP or PA, at UCHealth Lone Tree Medical Center. Candidates should have a strong professional background in Oncology and/or Hematology. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position is responsible for identifying, assessing, planning and coordinating services for oncology and hematology patients. The APP will be an active participant in clinical work seeing patients daily in Oncology clinics, as well as overseeing an anti‑cancer intravenous infusion area. The APP will provide in‑office and virtual/telephone support for patients and their families. As part of this position, additional training as needed in active symptom management, palliative care, and clinical trials conduct will be provided. A 1.0 FTE position includes 40 hours per work week. Hours may be distributed based on clinic needs as volumes grow. Primary work location: UCHealth Lone Tree Medical Center located at 9548 Park Meadows Drive, Lone Tree, CO 80124. Key Responsibilities Manage the health care of patients at Lone Tree including coordination of care (as necessary) with the Anschutz Campus. Possible clinical sites also include Highlands Ranch Hospital and Cherry Creek Medical Center. Perform a comprehensive health assessment, including health history, physical exams, preventive screening; identify medical health risks and needs. Perform scheduled study‑related visits, study screenings, and toxicity assessments of patients on phase I‑III clinical trials. Formulate the appropriate differential diagnoses based on clinical evaluation. Order and/or interpret diagnostic studies within scope of practice and clinical area of practice at Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree. Perform advanced technical procedures within the scope of clinical practice for these programs as well as other programs requesting procedures according to schedule. Plan and implement therapeutic regimens that include both nursing and medical management strategies, including prescription of medications and devices. Establish systematic follow‑up for evaluation of the plan of care and reassess and modify the plan, as necessary, including initiation of referrals and consultation with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Close charts within seven working days, not regarding extenuating circumstances. Assure patient and family teaching is adequate to manage the illness or wellness plan at home. Facilitate patient participation and promote engagement by providing information needed to make decisions and choices. Facilitate appropriate utilization of the medical system in a cost‑effective manner without jeopardizing quality of care and service. May be involved in management of critical pathway and case management across the continuum of care as indicated. Assist others as necessary, using time constructively. Participate as a team member in providing health care interacting with colleagues to provide comprehensive care as a responsible professional. Document in the medical record according to policy/procedure. Maintain accurate, legible, and confidential records. Comply with incident reporting and notification requirements. Apply organizational policies, regulations, and procedures in the administration of patient care. Intermittent holiday, evening and weekend coverage of infusion center/urgent care/outpatient clinics and inpatients may be needed. Work Location Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite. Physical allocations are in Lone Tree, CO. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Nursing and/or a graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant School is required. Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges in Colorado. Meets and maintains the requirements of the nursing credential review board for the advanced practice nurse. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Physician Assistant by a national professional organization. Preferred Qualifications Preferred three years’ oncology skillset and experience as a clinical Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. Clinical experience with oncology and/or cancer clinical trials patients is a plus.
