Community Name:Ravines EdgeThe Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for coordinating all business financials for United Church Homes (UCH).Essential Functions Statement(s)Guide junior accountants and other staff by answering questions and coordinating information relating to Finance and AccountingComply with all federal, state and local protocols including legal requirements, and interpret new and existing legislation; maintain a strong understanding of GAAPCreate and analyze liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling data and required documentationGenerate, review, analyze and communicate monthly financial statements and other reports to be used by management for analyzing financial informationContribute to the annual operating budgeting process through analysis and review of annual operating budget proposalUse judgment and strong professional skills to determine the appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions and reportingDocument accounting transactions using internal and external policies and proceduresReview contracts, orders and vouchers for accuracy based on established policies and proceduresApply the financial policies and procedures of the company and bring inconsistencies or problems to the attention of managementEnsure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end closeRespond to inquiries from the CFO or other executive management regarding financial results or special reporting requestsGuide other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issuesWork with retained CPA firms to ensure clean and timely year end auditsMaintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and proceduresAssist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the departmentCollaborate with other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectivesProvide training to new and existing staff as neededSupport CFO and Director of Finance with special projects and workflow process improvementsUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizationsPerform all other duties as assigned or requiredCompetency Statement(s)Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.Communication, Written - Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.Honesty / Integrity - Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.Interpersonal - Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.Organized - Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.Skills & AbilitiesEducation: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school): RequiredExperience: Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience requiredComputer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; Must be proficient in using a computer and general office equipmentCertifications & Licenses: Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state, federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation, as neededOther Requirements: Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state, federal requirements and certifications as needed; Must have expert Excel skills; Must have strong computer, software and Internet skills; Must have strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills; Must have strong interpersonal skills; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee HandbookWe're an equal opportunity employer.
