Senior Scientist, Cell Therapy

AstraZeneca seeks a Senior Scientist to design and execute product characterization studies for cell therapies in their Gaithersburg, MD lab. The role combines hands-on experimental work with cross-functional collaboration to advance cellular therapy candidates toward clinical development.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute hands-on characterization studies defining cellular therapy attributes and manufacturing processes
- Lead analytical assessments using multicolor flow cytometry, biomarker analysis, sequencing, and related techniques
- Synthesize complex data into actionable insights and communicate findings to inform program strategy
- Independently plan and troubleshoot experiments to meet development milestones and reduce technical risk
- Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to align assay strategy with program timelines
Requirements
- PhD in cell biology, cell engineering, immunology, or related field with 0–3 years experience; or MS with 5+ years; or BS with 10+ years
- Expertise in cell characterization methods including flow cytometry, ELISA, dPCR, microscopy, and -omics approaches
- Strong in vitro cell culture skills and aseptic technique proficiency
- Demonstrated ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and document complex experiments independently
- Experience analyzing large datasets using statistical methods and machine learning
- Deep knowledge of immune cell physiology and immunological assays
Compensation: $112,304-$168,456 base
