Staff Accountant

Hoxton Circle has partnered with a local client that needs some a solid part-time temporary Accountant with good government accounting skills to hit the ground running. The job will come with medical benefits and sick pay available last about 2 months with the possibility to extend. Main Responsibilities Reconciles liability accounts related to payroll, including employee deductions, ensuring amounts recorded in the general ledger are zeroed out once remitted and confirming remittance to the correct accounts Reconciles accounts receivable for a limited number of recurring customers, such as fire department and utility billing, including pass-through billing arrangements like shared sewer services Reconciles deposit liability accounts tied to public works and construction projects, including contractor deposits collected at project start and refunds issued upon completion Prepares PBC (prepared-by-client) schedules and supporting documentation for the annual external audit, including pulling transactions and backup documentation for items selected for testing Works on general ledger activity and Track It for transactional, sub-ledger level activity such as permitting, and helps reconcile the two systems Uses Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, for reconciliation and reporting work Requirements: GASB Government accounting experience Fund accounting experience, including general funds, infrastructure, governmental funds, business-type funds, and enterprise funds Must be able to pass a standard 7-year background check (misdemeanor/felony and Social Security trace) Hoxton Circle is an equal opportunity employer.
