Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initiation through to completion. This role will be responsible for managing project scope, programme, budget, quality, health and safety, environmental compliance, and stakeholder expectations across a range of treatment, network, utilities, and civil engineering projects. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee contractors and consultants, and ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.


Key responsibilities will include developing project execution plans, schedules, risk registers, budgets, procurement strategies, and reporting systems; monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions where required; managing changes, variations, claims, and commercial performance; and maintaining clear communication with clients, regulators, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. You will lead design reviews, construction planning, commissioning activities, and handover processes, ensuring that all documentation, testing, and operational requirements are completed to a high standard. The role will also involve identifying opportunities to improve delivery methods, promote sustainable solutions, and support continuous improvement across the wider project portfolio.


Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, or related construction sectors, with a strong understanding of project controls, contract administration, construction methodologies, and health and safety legislation. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline is desirable. You will be organised, commercially aware, and confident managing competing priorities in a complex delivery environment. Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to build effective relationships and motivate teams. Experience with relevant contract forms, project management software, regulatory approvals, and commissioning of water or wastewater assets would be advantageous.
