Job Description Title: Athletic Director or Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Classification: Salaried (Exempt)/Certified or NonCertified Administrator (based on qualifications) Status: 260/Days Location: Floyd Central High School Reports To: Principal Supervises: All coaching staff and athletic workers. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Leadership, Sports Management, Business Management, Education leadership or a related field; 3-5 years experience in management of multiple sports programs; Experience in athletic coaching; athletic administration, feeder programs and student‑athlete mentoring programs; Demonstrated superior ability to work with peers, supervisory staff, parents and students; Possess characteristics which represent a positive public relations image; Demonstrated a positive understanding of the educational needs of the high school age student; Demonstrated leadership qualities; Preferred: Building Level Administrator license; Minimum of five years' successful teaching experience; To include the Assistant Principal title an individual must hold a valid building administration license. Responsibilities Schedule all high school athletic events in conjunction with head coaching staff. Schedule IHSAA approved high school officials for all athletic events. Hire high school athletic coaches. Evaluate head coaches on an annual basis. Provide professional development for high school coaches. Ensure that programs develop student‑athlete character as well as athletic skills. Oversee student athletic eligibility. Assist in building a K-12 NAFC Athletic Program. Analyze capital project needs and submit recommendations. Oversee all athletic facilities, maintenance of fields. Develop, update, and share monthly facilities usage calendars. Coordinate transportation and accommodations for team travel. Review and approve yearly team budgets. Purchase all athletic equipment, uniforms and materials. Oversee the concessions sales at all athletic events. Ensure that concession stands meet health department guidelines. Facilitate athletic fundraising and/or corporate sponsorship activities. Adhere to and comply with all state board of accounts financial accountability measures as provided by the CFO. Update athletic handbook. Update coaches handbook; including all required education. Coordinate and assess weight/speed/conditioning programs and sports medicine programs. Adhere to the pay in accordance with district policies and contracts. Comply with Title IX requirements indicated by policies and/or the Title IX Coordinator. Communicate with parents and booster clubs. Attend conference and IHSAA meetings; stay current on information pertaining to school affiliation. Oversee compliance for the IHSAA/NFHS. Organize and manage tournaments assigned by the IHSAA and the conference. Provide athletic event security plans. Represent school in the Hoosier Hills Conference meetings. Establish and continue programs to highlight athletics for the school (i.e., the sports social). Assist the administrative team to make the school facility an attractive, pleasant, and productive place for working and learning. Organize and oversee in-school club program. Supervise the building’s driver education program. Approve all building-wide fundraising. Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by administration. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
