Sacred Heart Academy seeks an Assistant Principal for the 2026-2027 school year. As a member of the leadership team, the Assistant Principal helps build and sustain a strong Catholic community rooted in the Ursuline core values of reverence, service, leadership, and community. The Assistant Principal supports the work of the Principal by carrying out responsibilities as delegated and is directly accountable to the Principal. In the absence of the Principal, the Assistant Principal assumes responsibility for the school's overall management and administration. In collaboration with the Principal, the Assistant Principal is responsible for implementing the Sacred Heart Schools' strategic plan and ensuring adherence to the requirements of the International Baccalaureate as well as the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS). Principal Duties and Responsibilities Abide by the policies and guidelines contained in the SHS Human Resource Policy Manual. Participate in activities that help build a faith community on the campus. Model the Ursuline core values of Reverence, Service, Leadership, and Community in all aspects of school and personal life. Advance and model the Catholic mission and identity of the school by ensuring that gospel values, Eucharistic life, communal faith formation, academic excellence, service, and missionary discipleship are visible, understood, and integrated into all aspects of school life. Collaborate with the principal and leadership team to steward the school’s mission and vision, using the mission as the foundation for planning, decision-making, and evaluation across academic, co-curricular, and operational areas. Support the development and oversight of a rigorous, faith-integrated curriculum that aligns with diocesan, state, and national standards and intentionally integrates Catholic worldview, ethical reasoning, and social teaching across all subject areas. Provide instructional leadership by supervising classroom instruction, promoting high levels of student engagement, supporting culturally responsive teaching, and ensuring inclusive practices that meet the needs of diverse learners. Oversee school-wide assessment and data-informed practices, using student performance data to support continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, professional learning, and student well-being. Support and evaluate faculty and staff performance, assisting with recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, professional development, and formal evaluation in alignment with diocesan policies and the school’s mission. Partner with the principal in faculty faith formation, ensuring that all adults in the school community are equipped and supported as witnesses to faith, service, and Catholic identity. Promote a vibrant Catholic culture by supporting liturgical life, prayer experiences, retreats, service-learning opportunities, and visible expressions of faith throughout academic and co-curricular programs. Strengthen student faith formation and missionary discipleship by helping to ensure regular opportunities for prayer, Eucharist, retreats, and authentic Christian service rooted in Catholic social teaching. Support parent and family engagement by collaborating with school leaders and community partners to assist families in their primary role as educators of faith and to foster strong school-family partnerships. Contribute to a positive school climate and student support system by helping to oversee guidance services, wellness initiatives, behavior systems, and policies that uphold the dignity and holistic development of every student. Build collaborative leadership structures by fostering professional learning communities, shared leadership, and cross-departmental teamwork that advance excellence and sustainability. Assist in communicating school initiatives and priorities clearly and consistently to faculty, staff, students, families, and other stakeholders. Support operational and organizational vitality by assisting with initiatives related to facilities, technology use, and resource stewardship that align with the school’s mission and long-term sustainability. Three-to-five years proven administrative experience in secondary education (familiarity with Catholic schools a plus). Excellent collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Proficiency in technology. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to handle sensitive topics with discretion and compassion. Background check and compliance with diocesan safe environment policies.
