The Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) plays a crucial role in supporting the nursing staff and implementing comprehensive care plans for residents and patients. The primary responsibilities include aiding with activities of daily living, fostering engagement through education and recreation, and ensuring safe transportation, all in alignment with established policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents and patients with daily activities such as eating, dressing, personal care, and toileting.
• Contribute to the overall care plan by working collaboratively with the RN/LPN team leaders.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in all tasks performed.
• Support residents with daily activities, including feeding, bathing, ambulating, and skin care.
• Demonstrate effective listening skills to understand and meet resident/patient needs.
• Measure and report initial vital signs and weights to nursing staff in a timely manner.
• Monitor and accurately record patient intake and output in compliance with unit standards or physician orders.
• Uphold resident/patient rights and confidentiality regarding any related information.
• Foster a collaborative and respectful working relationship with all healthcare team members.
• Provide care and support as directed by the RN/LPN while adhering to the care plan.
• Assist in orientation for patients, residents, and families regarding unit facilities and services.
• Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards residents and their families.
• Maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment and seek support to resolve challenges.
• Demonstrate passion for providing high-quality care to long-term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active C.N.A license in the state of Maine.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills and a courteous demeanor when interacting with others.
• Ability to take direction and deliver patient care promptly and accurately.
• Capability to remain composed and objective in challenging situations.
