Wireless Network Deployment Technician - Dallas, TX

iSphere is looking for a Wireless Network Deployment Technician for an onsite, long-term opportunity supporting a client in North Dallas.

The immediate project is pretty straightforward: the client is upgrading wireless access points across all of its facilities, and they need technicians who can travel to those locations, remove the existing APs, install the new equipment, and leave everything ready for the networking team to configure.

Straightforward does not mean mindless. You still need to understand networking well enough to recognize when something does not look right, troubleshoot basic connectivity problems, and make sure the new equipment is installed where and how it is supposed to be.

The initial wireless upgrade is expected to run approximately six months, with ongoing work anticipated beyond the deployment.

You will spend a lot of your time in the field moving between client facilities, replacing wireless access points and supporting related network equipment. Depending on the site and the day's needs, you may also work with routers, switches, cabling, wireless troubleshooting, firmware updates, or user connectivity issues.

What We Need:

• Hands-on experience installing wireless access points and network equipment
• Understanding of wireless networking, SSIDs, encryption, authentication, and basic network security
• Familiarity with routers, switches, and general networking concepts
• Ability to troubleshoot weak signals, dropped connections, connectivity issues, and interference
• Experience performing hardware replacements, upgrades, or network deployments
• Ability to travel between client facilities throughout the Dallas area
• Comfortable working independently at different client locations
• Good documentation and communication skills

Site survey experience would definitely get our attention. If you know how to look at a facility, understand where coverage could become a problem, and help determine where an AP should actually go instead of just finding an open spot on the ceiling, even better.

You may also help monitor wireless performance, update network documentation, assist users with connectivity issues, and work with the networking team when something needs more than a field-level fix.

This is a good opportunity for someone who would rather be out installing and troubleshooting equipment than sitting at a desk watching tickets come in all day.
