Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides advanced support to surgical teams by preparing and maintaining sterile equipment and assisting during invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Ensures a safe and efficient operative environment to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and setting up necessary equipment.
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs.
• Verify patient consent and ensure proper identification prior to surgery.
• Perform instrument counts with the circulator before incision and closure to prevent retained instruments or materials.
• Assist in draping the sterile field and maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout surgery.
• Clean and sterilize instruments post-procedure, preparing them for terminal sterilization and future use.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate Degree or certification in Surgical Technology.
• Possess a valid certification from the National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Have at least two years of recent experience in a surgical setting.
• Be certified as a Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) by NCCT.
