Software Engineer

Role Description

Ultra Mission Solutions is hiring mid-level Software Engineers to join the Mission Software team under the mentorship of one of our Solutions Architects, supporting high-demand programs and mission application development.

• Contribute to software development across the Mission Solutions portfolio.
• Work alongside a senior Solutions Architect and leverage modern AI tools to accelerate delivery.
• Bring existing engineering experience while growing toward a Solutions Architect track.
• Take ownership of features and support field and integration activities as needed.

Preferred locations: Austin, TX, Huntsville, AL, or Remote.

Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the year to support solution engineering in the field, military exercises, and major integration events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 2–8 years of software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver production software.
• Curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance; active clearance preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance (preferred).
• Exposure to AI/ML tooling and modern development workflows.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience in edge compute, mission systems, or rugged platforms.
• Interest in growing into a Solutions Architect role.
