Machinist 2nd ShiftThe Machinist 2nd Shift will perform a variety of machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations, etc. on rotating equipment components (pumps, turbines, compressors, and more) and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.Skills RequiredOrganizational - Leadership & Organization:Exceptional attention to details.Display ownership and accountability for tasks and responsibilities.Exceptional ability to manage competing priorities.Interpersonal - Experience Required:Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently.Ability to work and interact professionally and respectfully with coworkers.Efficiency - Experience Preferred:Ability to manage other projects and responsibilities that may be added at the company's discretion.Exceptional ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time and resources effectively.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Primary Role ResponsibilitiesAbility to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment, but basic skills are required beforehand).Advanced oral and written communication.Advanced math skills to calculate tolerances and dimensions.Must be able to read and understand Blueprints and G-Code.Must be familiar with basic machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations.Must be competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts.Must be able to hold tolerances as dictated by drawings, written instructions, or industry standards.Must be proficient with the use of, the care of, and the calibration of all types of measuring devices (i.e., micrometers (OD and ID), dial calipers, dial indicators, etc.).Must possess and provide basic tools required for the execution of the position of a machinist.Must be able to comply with all safety directives and programs established by the Company and or our customers.Additional ResponsibilitiesThe above list of activities is not all inclusive but a general representation of the requirements of an RMS Machinist 2nd Shift. This list is subject to change based on the needs of the company.Required Experience & QualificationsJob shop experience a plus.5 plus years of Machinist experience and knowledge.Required EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.Additional InformationThis position will be based full-time in our RMS Fusion facility located in Houston, TX.This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs. (50 lbs. with assistance), walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage.While performing the duties of this position the employee will be required to stand, sit, bend and walk for significant portions of the shiftMust not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.Able to understand, read, write, and speak English.Authorized to work in the United States.RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
