Boys Club Flag Football Coach

Job Details Location: Lick Wilmerding High School - San Francisco, CA 94112 Position Type: Part Time Salary: $4,400.00 - $4,750.00 Shift: Part-Time Position Summary The flag football season starts August 17, 2026 and runs through approximately October 29,2026. Teams practice twice a week from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on non‑game days and have 1‑2 games a week. The Head Boys Flag Football Coach is responsible for coaching and managing the Varsity and JV flag football teams, providing leadership, instruction, and motivation to student‑athletes while fostering their development in flag football skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. The coach will work closely with assistant coaches to ensure alignment in coaching philosophy and program goals. Duties and Responsibilities Develop and Implement Practice Plans: Create and lead effective practice sessions that focus on skill development, conditioning, and teamwork. Game Day Preparation: Manage all aspects of the flag football games, including lineups, substitutions, and in‑game strategy adjustments. Supervise all assistant coaching staff. Maintain open communication with student‑athletes, parents, the athletic director, and varsity coaching staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance. Work with individual players to develop their skills and knowledge of the game. Assess and evaluate players' performance to make roster decisions and support potential movement between the JV and varsity teams. Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship. Ensure all practices and games follow safety protocols and school policies; monitor athletes' health and fitness levels. Encourage student‑athletes to excel academically and monitor their eligibility. Assist with the distribution, collection, and care of equipment and uniforms. Qualifications Prior coaching experience in flag football (preferably at the high school or youth level). Playing experience is also preferred. High school diploma required. In‑depth knowledge of flag football rules, tactics, and strategies. Ability to motivate and guide young athletes. Must hold current CPR and First Aid certifications or be willing to obtain them before the season starts. Must hold current CIF/NFHS certifications or be willing to obtain them before the season starts. Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policy. Preferred Attributes Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work well within a team setting and collaborate with other coaching staff.
