Position Overview:

We are seeking a  skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician  to join our operating room team. The Surgical Technician will assist surgeons and nurses in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. This role involves preparing and maintaining sterile fields, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly set up, functioning, and accounted for.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, drapes, and supplies.

• Create and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures.

• Inspect sterile items for contamination before use.

• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure required equipment and supplies are ready before the procedure begins.

• Verify that all equipment is functioning properly before use and operate mechanical, electrical, and air-powered devices per manufacturer guidelines.

• Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies during procedures.

• Demonstrate the ability to scrub for a wide variety of surgical procedures, including specialty surgeries such as sports medicine and trauma.

• Support RNs in completing operative charges and recording surgical hardware used.

• Collect specimens and cultures, verifying source and identification with the surgeon.

• Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• One year of experience in an operating room as a Surgical Technician  or completion of a Surgical Technician training program required

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred (or eligibility for certification)

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical procedures

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
