Specimen Processing Specialist II

Specimen Processor II Location: Newark, NJ. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 10:30am – 7:00pm, and rotating Saturdays. Job Responsibilities Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing. Communicate effectively with client office staff. Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems. Meet department activity and production goals. Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner. Accurately identify and label specimens. Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities. Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated. Perform spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED or equivalent. 1 year or more experience in a lab, accessioning, data entry, manufacturing or warehouse. Preferred Qualifications 1 year or more of medical or patient-facing healthcare experience. Additional Job Standards Comfortable handling biological specimens. Ability to accurately identify specimens. Experience working in a team environment. Strong data entry and organizational skills. High level of attention to detail. Experience with MS Office. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Able to pass a standardized color blindness test. Pay Range $17.75 - $20.00 per hour. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
