Position Overview Registered Nurse (RN) – Heart Failure Unit (5E), full‑time, day/midnight rotating (7A‑7P & 7P‑7A). Hours: 72hours/pay. Weekend and holiday coverage required. Location: Newark, DE. Unit Description The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital is a 36‑bed specialized post‑critical care complex cardiac unit providing high‑acuity care to patients with complex heart failure and post‑operative cardiac needs. Within the unit, 12 beds are designated for post‑operative open‑heart surgery and LVAD patient population requiring advanced clinical expertise and specialized nursing competencies. As a Registered Nurse on 5E, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients who may have chest tubes, surgical drains, large‑bore central venous catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires. RNs are responsible for advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and early detection of changes in patient condition. Patient education. Early detection of changes in patient condition. Education & Requirements BSN preferred; BSN to be obtained within three years of hire required. At least one year of experience as a registered nurse required. Previous step‑down experience preferred. Previous critical care experience preferred. BLS required; ACLS preferred. Salary Hourly pay range: $41.28 – $66.05. Pay rate represents ChristianaCare’s best estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual salary will depend on skills, relevant experience, and qualifications.
