Chief Of StaffThe Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) Chief of Staff is responsible for supporting the strategic vision of the department, building an effective and healthy team culture, improving department operations, and managing progress toward department-wide goals. BCYF's CoS will also be responsible for performing a variety of advanced professional duties and analytical projects for the Commissioner; relieving the Commissioner of administrative detail; serving as a project manager to priority initiatives; and representing the Commissioner at internal and external meetings as needed.ResponsibilitiesDuties are performed under the general direction of the Commissioner. As the principal aide to the Commissioner handles a wide range of projects and departmental matters of importance, including:Strategic Thinking and PlanningLeads various strategic initiatives, including BCYF's identified priorities, operations of the Executive Office, and special projects.Assists in the development and maintenance of organizational policies, protocols, and procedures in every aspect of the department.Works with the Commissioner and senior leadership on systemic efficiencies, strategy development, and organizational coordination.Create accountability structures to ensure each aspect of the department is working towards measurable goals–track progress.CommunicationServes as the Commissioner's liaison with BCYF personnel and community partners to ensure information flow to and from the Executive Office.Prepares and/or contributes to preparing reports, briefings, presentations, and responses on institutional and strategic issues, as appropriate.Builds (reactive and proactive) information flow systems to ensure that staff are well informed of relevant decisions and plans.LeadershipSupports management of the executive leadership team, ensuring adequate resources and infrastructure to achieve goals.Plans, executes, and enforces different workstreams like 1:1 meetings, leadership, and all staff meetings.Supervises projects on behalf of the Commissioner that involve senior-level staff.Advocate for staff and/or offer feedback when necessary.Works in a confidential capacity with the Commissioner.Performs other duties as required.Minimum Entrance QualificationsAt least five (5) years of relevant work experience: project management experience, designing and implementing human service programs, and working within city/municipal government.A Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, management, communications, marketing, or related field is preferred, and may be substituted for two(2) years of the required experience.Experience managing and building teams.Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Google Suite.Ability to perform complex tasks and manage multiple projects.Strong prioritization skills, performing multiple tasks seamlessly with impeccable attention to detail.Excellent time and project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills.Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills.Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and various stakeholders.Innovative thinking with a results-focused work ethic.Commitment to the mission of BCYF and service to all Boston residents.Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Chinese, and Vietnamese).Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends.Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.Familiarity with state and local government operations and processes is preferred.Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I.) and Sexual Offender Record Information (S.O.R.I.)
