Crossing Guard (Part-time)

Cherry Hill Township is looking for part-time Crossing Guards to cover various morning and afternoon posts. Essential Functions Provides assistance to children crossing the street, maintains children's safety in traffic, and directs or expedites the flow of traffic at crossing. Places and removes signs marking the location of the crossing. Signals traffic to stop/resume using hand and/or other signal devices. Performs other related duties as assigned. Morning posts can begin from 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM and last approximately one (1) hour. Afternoon posts can begin from 2:45 PM - 3:00 PM and last for one (1) hour. Early dismissal posts can begin from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM and last for one (1) hour. Delayed opening posts can begin from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM and last for one (1) hour. Knowledge/Skills Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to remain aware of and alert to a variety of environmental factors, such as moving vehicles and weather. Ability to exercise good judgment and make rapid decisions related to the speed and distance of multiple vehicles. Knowledge of traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings. Skill in interacting with the public, especially children. Requirements Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver's license and be able to provide their own transportation to and from posts.
