Test Engineer IV

Position Test Engineer 4 – responsible for designing, developing and maintaining test procedures, tester hardware and software for electronic circuit board production in a large equipment manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain test procedures, tester hardware and software for electronic circuit board production. Recruit, interview, coach, and mentor Process Technicians. Establish measurable goals, evaluate performance, and provide continuous coaching. Coordinate large teams and manage communications within the workcell. Review circuit board designs for testability, support manufacturing with failure analysis, tester debugging, and reduction of intermittent failures. Prepare testing recommendations from product design through to initial production, generating reports and analysis of test data. Design and direct engineering and technical personnel in fabrication, procurement, installation, and calibration of testing instruments, equipment, and control devices. Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests, perform semi‑routine technique development and maintenance. Provide training in new procedures to production testing staff. Ensure adherence to safety, health rules, and company security policies. Requirements Bachelor of Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a four‑year college or university. 7+ years of experience, with at least 3 years in medium/high‑voltage electrical testing in a high‑voltage manufacturing environment. Experience running and setting up HIPOT tests (dielectric and insulation testing); HIPOT certification preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills for systems and equipment. Experience creating documentation for test technicians and operators. Comprehensive understanding of high‑voltage standard practices and safety risks (arc flash, short‑circuit hazards). Completion of relevant specialized training (e.g., OSHA, NFPA70E, Arc Flash PPE, LOTO, high‑voltage handling and grounding). Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Mathematical proficiency in probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Physical and Environmental Demands Requires walking, lifting and carrying equipment up to 50lb. Work primarily in an office but with time on the manufacturing floor. Moderate noise levels.
