About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - EPIC experience Description: Shift hours are from 19:00 to 07:30. The position requires floating to other similar units if needed. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, but may change based on need. Patient diagnoses include higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and post cardiac catheterization. This position is a step-down from intensive care, with no ventilator or pressor support. Allowed infusions include heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and initiation of sotolol. The unit will consider first-time travelers based on their experience. Special skills include: - BiPAP/CPAP management - Blood product administration - Cardiac telemetry - Central line care and management - Chest tube management - Continuous bladder irrigation - Feeding tube care and management - Heparin protocols - High flow nasal cannula - Interpretation of arterial blood gases - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - Isolation precautions - Management of cardiac drips (non-titration) - Management of dysrhythmias - Oxygen administration and management - Peripheral line care and management - Post cardiac angiogram care - Pre and post cardiac catheter management - Starting and maintaining IVs - Telemetry monitoring - Tracheostomy care and management - Use of rapid response/code teams - Wound care management The daily census for the unit is approximately 28 patients. The typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 6:1. Interdisciplinary support is available from various services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Staff may be required to float to other units based on census needs. Documentation of competencies is required for all floating assignments.
