The Extruder Operator position plays a crucial role in producing high-quality products by expertly operating and maintaining extrusion machinery. This role requires precision in monitoring production parameters, troubleshooting equipment issues, and adhering to strict safety and cleanliness standards. Working within a small team, the Extruder Operator ensures consistent product quality while supporting a smooth production process.
Responsibilities
- Load and paddle product into the v-bin to ensure continuous flow into the hopper
- Maintain product weights within specified tolerances and address quality issues promptly
- Apply coatings consistently to meet product uniformity standards
- Perform daily cleaning of extrusion machinery to uphold hygiene and safety
- Troubleshoot extrusion problems such as gum buildup to prevent delays
- Install, adjust, and maintain components including blades, housings, cutters, and sensors
- Follow detailed paperwork confirming die selection, shape, weight, and coating specifications
- Conduct routine maintenance and report equipment malfunctions
- Support packaging activities to ensure efficient handoff to shipping
- Conduct product quality checks assessing texture, moisture, and appearance
- Adjust machine settings based on environmental and ingredient variables
- Provide insights on product and ingredient differences to optimize production
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience in extrusion operation
- Experience with product texture, appearance, and consistency analysis
- Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Eligible for forklift certification and familiar with hand tools and pressure systems
