Job Description

Our client, a growing New York-based title insurance and settlement services company, seeks an experienced 1031 Exchange Coordinator to manage its exchange transactions and serve as the main point of contact for exchangers and their representatives.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of experience coordinating 1031 exchanges, preferably with a Qualified Intermediary, though experience in a title agency or law firm exchange department will also be considered. The company offers highly competitive compensation and benefits, with a salary range of 90k-130k and up, depending on experience. This position is on-site in Manhattan. The firm will also consider hybrid work schedules, depending on the candidate.

Responsibilities

Coordinate forward, reverse, improvement/build-to-suit, TIC, DST, and other exchanges from opening through completion.
Prepare exchange document packages, including exchange agreements, assignments, notices of assignment, and closing and funding instructions, modifying them to fit the particulars of each transaction in coordination with the company’s QI counsel.
Prepare and maintain exchange ledgers and reconcile them against settlement statements.
Review purchase and sale contracts and settlement statements for consistency with the exchange documents and the company’s funding requirements.
Receive and document replacement property identifications and track the 45-day and 180-day exchange periods.
Keep exchangers informed throughout the transaction and, with the exchanger’s authorization, work with their attorneys, accountants, brokers, lenders, and closing agents, always protecting client confidentiality.
Assist the company with its funds-handling, wire-verification, and fraud-prevention procedures.
Maintain complete and well-organized exchange files.
