Secretary to Principal - Elementary School
The Secretary to Principal role is set up for elementary schools without a full front office staff. In addition to providing administrative support to the Principal, the Secretary is therefore responsible for performing the additional office responsibilities of Health Assistant, Registrar, Receptionist and/or Bookkeeper. The Secretary will also be expected to develop and promote good community relations among various community and school clientele. Essential physical requirements include occasional lifting of five to twenty pounds, frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending, squatting, reaching, stooping, and frequent repetitive motion of hands - keyboarding, writing, etc. The typical educational office setting has overhead lighting and minimal to moderate noise level.
Responsibilities include maintaining the principal's calendar, making appointments, scheduling meetings and conferences; maintaining files on personnel, including evaluations and other confidential information; making arrangements for various meetings, attending and taking minutes and notes, and disseminating information; performing other front office responsibilities as school Health Assistant, Registrar, Receptionist or related duties as assigned or requested; coordinating a variety of building and staff activities including but not limited to, beginning and end-of-year check-in and check-out, back to school nights, parent teacher conferences, building security measures; responding to telephone calls, routing calls, taking messages, greeting visitors and assisting staff, parents and community with concerns and questions; managing a variety of personnel functions such as substitute teachers, staff leaves and leave records, pay sheets, and personnel hiring packets; coordinating, assigning and directing the work of support clerical personnel, serving as a data source for evaluation, and making routine decisions; drafting and producing letters, memoranda, reports, special projects, such as newsletters, handbooks and other related materials and documents, dealing with matters of a highly confidential nature; coordinating student teacher placements; and preparing and distributing a variety of regular and special reports for administration, the district and the state.

Minimum Hire Rate: $21.04 USD Hourly
Maximum Hire Rate: $27.45 USD Hourly
Full Salary Range: $21.04 USD - $33.85 USD Hourly
All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
