Medical Assistant

Medical AssistantPerforms a variety of patient care activities and assists physicians. Greets and assists all patients and visitors in the office and by telephone, gathers demographic and insurance information, enters information into the practice management system and schedules appointments. Checks out patients, collects payments, completes referral/testing/Ambulatory Surgery appointments and checks precertification requirements. Triages patients. Answers patient calls. Stocks supplies. Meets office protocols.Qualifications include excellent customer service skills, the ability to read and understand the English language, critical and analytical thinking with little or no supervision, effective communication in high stress and conflict situations, information processing and prioritization, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, independent work habits, the ability to learn, adapt, and change as required by the job functions, maintaining confidentiality, basic computer literacy, and the ability to move freely, reach, bend, and complete light lifting. Education includes a high school diploma or GED and medical assistant certification. Experience includes 1+ years physician practice related experience or equivalent preferred.
