Athletic Trainer Clinical - Orthopedic Surgery

Position Summary Assists with diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of pediatric and adolescent sports injuries. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Promotes Pediatric Sports Medicine practice. Develops relationships with high school athletic trainers in the St. Louis region, including participation in high school sporting coverage. Assists in coordinating outreach and education programs on pediatric and adolescent sports injuries including prevention programs. Develops teaching materials to support patients and their families with sports injuries. Assists Pediatric Sports Physician in the Operating Room. Assists in all aspects of the clinical care of pediatric and adolescent athletes – including diagnosis, preoperative education, surgery, postoperative follow‑up and rehabilitation. Working Conditions Normal office environment. Requires extensive safety training. Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Direct patient care setting. Typical physical effort: sitting at desk or table, standing or walking, bending, crouching, stooping; occasional lifting (25 lbs or less). Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree. Certification: Athletic Trainer Certification (ATC) from National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA). Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association or American Red Cross; must be obtained within one month of hire date and must include a skills assessment. No specific work experience required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Minimum of two years of clinical experience. Eligible for Missouri State Registration.
