We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for a Contract position based in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role will play a key part in managing cash activity, supporting payment processes, recording payroll-related entries, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work closely with finance leadership in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily cash activity to ensure funds are accurately tracked and available for key obligations such as payroll and vendor payments.
• Monitor online banking platforms, review account activity, and record deposits, withdrawals, and other transactions in the accounting records.
• Partner with the Finance Coordinator to manage the weekly accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices and validating payment details for checks and electronic disbursements.
• Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries after each payroll cycle to keep the general ledger current and accurate.
• Maintain and update pledge and donation tracking schedules related to capital campaign activity as financial information changes.
• Participate in recurring meetings with the Finance Coordinator and organizational leadership to provide updates and support financial planning discussions.
• Process and review scholarship disbursements for the Scholastic Foundation, ensuring payments are accurate and completed as needed.
• Assist with account analysis and reconciliations to support an orderly month-end close process and reliable financial reporting.• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or closely related role.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close activities, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of journal entries.
• Strong background in account reconciliation and bank reconciliation with close attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel for financial tracking, reporting, and analysis.
• Ability to review financial transactions independently and maintain accurate documentation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with finance staff and leadership.
