Job Title Research Faculty – IM Immunology and Rheumatology (Open Rank/Track Faculty) Department Medicine – IM Immunology and Rheumatology Position Overview The Division of Rheumatology and Immunology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine seeks a highly motivated scientist focused on rheumatic autoimmune diseases to expand the current research program. The position is supported by an endowed professorship and the rank will depend on the candidate’s research accomplishments. Successful applicants must hold an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, with a strong track record of high‑level publications and ongoing robust peer‑reviewed research funding. A highly competitive recruiting package is available. Faculty members participate in all phases of biomedical research, from basic immunology to translational and clinical investigations. Core strengths include: Autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, myositis) Immune dysregulation and adaptive immunity (B‑ and T‑cell biology, signaling pathways, tolerance) Translational and clinical research (biomarker discovery, patient registries, investigator‑initiated clinical trials) Microbiome–immune system interactions in systemic autoimmunity Preclinical disease models for immune mechanisms and therapeutic targets Benefits include access to robust clinical populations, biobanking resources, NIH‑funded investigators, and extensive division‑run research facilities. Duties and Responsibilities Write and publish research in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals. Present research at national and international conferences. Develop and maintain a national and international scholarly reputation. Mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellows. Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives. Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies in rheumatic autoimmune diseases. Develop and write grant proposals to sustain the research program. Obtain and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding. Qualifications Doctoral degree in Immunology or related field (MD or MD/PhD). Strong track record of high‑level publications. Strong track record of ongoing robust peer‑reviewed research funding (NIH R01 or equivalent).
