Police Captain
The Police Captain is responsible for the management of assigned division(s) and/or unit(s) within the Police Department to ensure the development and implementation of plans/strategies that properly investigate, identify and apprehend law violators, as well as promoting the law enforcement functions of public education regarding crime prevention for the City of Casselberry. The Police Captain is responsible for the direct supervision and evaluation of the performance of direct and subordinate staff. The Police Captain accomplishes work with freedom to establish, implement and oversee policies in the assigned division(s).
A Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or university in political science, law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration or related field is required. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in police work, including a minimum of five (5) years' supervisory experience, with a minimum of three (3) at the management level, are required. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be made to determine acceptance of past driving record. Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center databases certifications. Candidates must possess a current valid Law Enforcement Certification from the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Florida Department of Law Enforcement background clearance.
