Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical unit provides skilled nursing care to patients, managing their treatment plans and collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. This role involves comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, and ensuring quality care delivery in a fast-paced hospital environment. The nurse will float between units as needed, maintaining high standards of clinical practice and communication.

Responsibilities:

Perform patient assessments and monitor patient conditions.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare team members.
Provide education and support to patients and their families.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
Float between different units as required to meet patient care needs.
Follow infection control and safety protocols.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
Minimum of two years of experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field work if applicable.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing unit preferred.
Additional certifications related to specialty areas such as ICU, ER, or Operating Room are advantageous.

Special Considerations:

Floating between units may be required.
No on-call duties expected.
Weekend shifts required as per facility needs.
Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 1:6.
48-hour workweek approved.

Scheduling:

Work schedule includes weekend shifts as needed.
No block schedules required.
Shift assignments determined by facility staffing needs and patient census.
