Laboratory Assistant

Full-Time Laboratory AssistantAs a Full-Time Laboratory Assistant based in our Orange, CA Laboratory, you'll step into the lab where every detail matters. You'll play a key role in supporting the Metals Department by assisting with disposal, cleaning glassware, handling samples, maintaining equipment, and maintaining a clean laboratory to support on-time results everyday. You'll collaborate with a strong team of committed professionals, contribute to meaningful scientific work, and grow your expertise in a dynamic, quality-driven environment.The compensation range for this role is $17.25 to $20 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.Schedule: Full-Time. Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMTo thrive in this role in the Metals Department, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:Pick up, check in/out, retrieve, return, and organize samples; assist with sample weighingMaintain clean and organized workstations, counters, floors, and glasswareDispose of samples, instrument waste, and satellite waste safelyMonitor, receive, label, and store supplies; notify when inventory is lowPerform routine equipment maintenance and calibration (hot blocks, pipettes, balances, pH/turbidity meters, etc.)Handle and replace gas cylinders safelyPerform pH and turbidity checksHandling the pre-treatment and accurately weigh samples for laboratory analysisUse LIMS for daily tasks and maintain logbooksFollow all safety, PPE, and QA requirementsStay current with required QACommunicate and coordinate with QA, Safety members, Sample Receiving, and Group LeaderComply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and other policiesComply with Onterris Health and Safety PlanOther duties as assigned by the Group Leader, Operations Manager, or Lab DirectorThese requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.High School diploma or equivalent requiredAbility to follow written procedures and instructionsBasic understanding of laboratory safety practicesStrong communication and teamworkPreferred SkillsPrior laboratory, sample-handling, or wet chemistry experienceStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work effectively under supervision in a team-based environmentWillingness to learn laboratory procedures and workflowsThe physical and environmental requirements below reflect what's typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.
