We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaged Civil Engineer to support our growing civil engineering practice. The ideal candidate will bring strong site plan experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to contribute to a wide range of civil/site development projects. Candidates should have a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and 5 to 7 years of site plan experience. Preferred candidates will have experience preparing site plans, including utilities, drainage, and SWPPPs, as well as experience applying perimits. Experience in understanding and implementation of the local zoning, County regulations to the site design decisions, SEQRA, and permitting requirements to site design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil/site layouts and designs, including grading, storm drainage, roadway design, water and sewer infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, and utilities.

• Design and coordinate multidisciplinary projects from due diligence and site feasibility through regulatory approvals, permitting, and final site engineering.

• Prepare site plans and civil design packages for community solar and BESS installations, including access roads, emergency vehicle access, grading, equipment pad and racking layouts, screening and buffer design, fencing, and decommissioning plans.

• Prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations in accordance with NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements.

• Prepare for and attend planning board meetings throughout New York.

• Prepare engineer’s opinions of probable cost and technical specifications for public bid projects.

• Perform project administration duties, including preparing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals and correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports.

• Coordinate with engineering and architectural teams across the firm to support integrated project delivery.

• Communicate directly with clients to support project coordination, decision-making, and successful delivery.

• Take responsibility for the on-time, on-budget, and high-quality technical delivery of project requirements.

• Mentor junior engineering staff and support their technical development.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline with minimum of 7 years of relevant experience

• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, AutoTURN, Excel, and HydroCAD.

• Design experience focused on site development or municipal engineering projects.

• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices in related technical areas.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively within project teams.

• Team-oriented, focused, and capable of making sound independent decisions.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience preparing residential and commercial site plans, including utilities, drainage, and SWPPPs.

• Experience interpreting and applying local zoning and County regulations to site design decisions.

• Experience with site plan development, SEQRA review, and permitting processes.

• Familiarity with NYSERDA NY-Sun and retail/bulk storage incentive programs and SEQRA review of renewable energy facilities.

• Familiarity with public infrastructure design and the public bidding process.

• EIT or PE licensure desired.

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $120,000 Depending on Experience
