Today, our Y serves more than 6,000 members through programs and initiatives focused on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Position Details Schedule: Monday thru Friday; 2:30pm to 6:00pm Pay: $19 to $20 per hour Benefits Include Paid NJ Sick Leave 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan - Available Upon Hire Professional Growth & Career Guidance Complimentary YMCA Staff Membership and Discounted Program fees (restrictions apply) Essential Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily afterschool program operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children. Supervise, support, and provide guidance to Program Counselors and volunteers, including training and performance feedback. Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and applicable NJ childcare licensing, health & safety requirements. Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners. Coordinate program activities, special events, field trips, facility use, and related setup and cleanup. Monitor program participation and effectiveness and assist with developing activities and initiatives that strengthen and expand the program. We are also a drug-free workplace Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Child Development, Education, Recreation, or a related field preferred. 2-4 years of experience working in childcare, youth development, afterschool, or a related program preferred. Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to supervise and support staff while working independently and as part of a team. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
