Database Developer Expert

Salary: $85,000 - 125,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for 12+ years of experience, including at least 3+ years in database development.
• We need strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, ideally Aurora PostgreSQL, including tuning and troubleshooting.
• We require strong Oracle Database expertise, including PL/SQL development and optimization.
• We expect advanced SQL capability, including complex joins, window functions, execution plan review, and indexing approaches.
• We need practical AWS experience with core services such as EC2, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• We require hands-on Terraform experience, including modules, remote state, environment management, and CI/CD integration being a plus.
• We need understanding of database reliability patterns such as replication, high availability, read scaling, and failover.
• Preferred qualifications include database migration experience, especially Oracle to PostgreSQL/Aurora, and familiarity with tools like AWS DMS or SCT.
• Preferred experience includes CI/CD for database changes with tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
• Preferred knowledge includes monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch metrics and logs, Performance Insights, and alerting.
• Preferred experience includes containerized workloads in ECS or EKS interacting with databases.
• Preferred experience includes data streaming or integration tools such as Kafka or Kinesis, caching such as Redis or ElastiCache, or warehousing such as Redshift.
• Scripting ability in Python, Bash, or similar is preferred for automation.
• We value strong debugging and problem-solving skills in production settings.
• We need the ability to balance performance, reliability, and security.
• We expect clear communication and documentation skills.
• We want comfort working in agile delivery and collaborating across teams.

• We design, develop, and maintain database solutions on AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Oracle, whether on-premises or hosted in AWS.
• We write and tune SQL, PL/pgSQL, and PL/SQL for performance and maintainability.
• We build and support stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
• We handle schema design, data modeling, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• We support database operations such as backup and restore, patch coordination, upgrades, capacity planning, and incident resolution.
• We implement data access patterns and integrate databases with applications and services, including APIs, batch processes, and ETL or ELT pipelines where applicable.
• We create and maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform for database and supporting AWS components.
• We work with AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, VPC/Security Groups, and RDS-related tooling when applicable.
• We enforce security best practices, including encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management, least-privilege access, and auditing.
• We produce and maintain documentation such as runbooks, standards, deployment procedures, and operational playbooks.
• We collaborate with application, platform, DevOps, and security teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
