The Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly qualified Civic Champions Club Leader to provide engaging instruction and leadership development for middle school students in our after-school program. Civic Champions is designed to help students understand their role in their school and broader community while developing a commitment to service, leadership, and positive social impact.

The Club Leader will guide students in identifying community needs, learning about civic engagement, exploring local issues, and developing service projects that allow them to give back. Students will have opportunities to work collaboratively on projects such as community service initiatives, school improvement projects, donation drives, awareness campaigns, and other student-led efforts that address meaningful community needs.

Throughout the school year, the Club Leader should help students build skills that support their academic, college, and career readiness, including goal setting, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, leadership, project planning, and reflection. The Club Leader should create an environment where students feel empowered to contribute their ideas, take ownership of projects, and recognize the impact they can have in their communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervise and ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of up to 15 students during after-school programming.

• Plan and facilitate engaging lessons and enrichment activities, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs and interests.

• Establish learning objectives, monitor student progress, and support skill development through project-based activities.

• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and character development.

• Prepare classrooms and materials, maintain attendance records, and assist with daily program setup and cleanup.

• Implement safety protocols, including emergency procedures and evacuation drills.

• Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust activities to maximize student engagement and outcomes.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the After-School Program Director.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications or credentials in filmmaking are preferred.

• Availability to work late afternoons and/or evenings (typically 4:00–6:00 p.m., with program hours between 3:00–6:30 p.m.).

• Experience in filmmaking and prior experience working with youth in a classroom, enrichment, or after-school setting preferred.

• Strong communication, classroom management, and group facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners and follow program schedules.

• Passion for education and youth development; candidates qualified to lead instruction in multiple activities are preferred. Must successfully complete required background checks and clearances.

Salary:

• $25 - $35 per hour
