This position works closely with Engineering Project Managers, Design Phase Managers, Project Managers, engineering and design team members, and customers to create and coordinate deliverables, perform quality control, and lead design efforts.This position offers opportunities at both the Engineer III and Engineer IV levels, with placement based on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined based on factors such as experience and location.ResponsibilitiesWork with utility-scale substation and/or wind customers to support the integration of storage and renewable generation assets onto the grid.Develop innovative designs to optimize overall cost and performance.Interface with and present to multiple stakeholders, including customer decision-makers and project teams.Provide technical support for proposals, estimating, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction.Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, Project Managers, and Design Phase Managers to successfully deliver design projects.Participate in project teams executing the design, analysis, or evaluation of individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and established business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.Begin performing lead engineer tasks on 1–3 large design projects.Mentor and guide other Engineering Professionals.Perform technical review, approval, and selection of equipment vendor quotes for major equipment with Design Phase Manager / Lead Engineer review.Collect and evaluate data to recommend courses of action.Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and tasks consistent with engineering policies and QA/QC procedures.Perform data analysis, engineering tasks, calculations, and studies to develop preliminary and detailed designs for large and small projects.Develop technical specifications and provide direction and guidance to drafters and designers.Direct the flow of drafting and designer duties to ensure design schedules are met and regularly provide project status updates to the project engineer.Handle multiple projects and provide detailed design packages that comply with applicable engineering design standards and safety codes.Apply discipline-specific technical designs, QA/QC procedures, and engineering policies.Apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles, business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.Review engineering work with a goal of achieving an 80% first-time review rate for documents.Understand and apply the equation S=P+jQ.Verify that construction agrees with civil and protection engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings and QA/QC.Develop and evaluate technical requirements for fabrication and construction tender packages.Create detailed designs aligned with customer requirements and established best practice standards.QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related Engineering program.Strong preference for a degree from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum.Working knowledge of or familiarity with engineering software packages and Project Controls software, including Procore.Knowledge of system integration, product adaptation, and design development for systems.Work experience with an electrical background or industry knowledge gained through electrical business or electrician/construction experience.Preference for knowledge focused on power systems and substations.Design optimization skills involving technical parameters while considering economic feedback for decisions.Working knowledge of or familiarity with software packages such as CYMCAP, CDEGS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and ArcGIS/QGIS.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Microsoft Excel experience for tracking and analyzing different components and combinations.Experience in the T&D industry, with preference for design experience in Energy Storage, Solar, or Wind.Experience researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.Understanding of discipline-specific technical designs, QA/QC procedures, and engineering policies.Ability to travel up to 10%.Engineer IIIMinimum Qualifications:Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or achievement of EIT within 6 months of entering the position, with the expectation of achieving a PE license in the future.Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.4+ years of related experience.Base Pay Range: $98,800 – $133,300With PE License: $108,700 – $146,700Engineer
