Position Operations Specialist (Logistics) Location Chicago, Illinois – onsite at the location detailed in the job post. Primary Purpose Perform a variety of accounting assignments, record and report financial transactions, and execute Sarbanes‑Oxley control requirements to produce accurate and timely financial statements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate financial records, support forecasting and planning, and help the business meet customer needs. Continuously assess and recommend areas to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Primary Duties Monthly and Quarterly Close – Perform and support the monthly financial statement close process, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely. Ensure effective operation of Sarbanes‑Oxley controls and identify any necessary changes. (40%) Reporting and Analysis – Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, including analysis for internal and external reporting. Research variances, identify trends, determine root causes, and make recommendations for adjustments or enhancements. Prepare and analyze account reconciliations. (15%) Collaboration and Communication – Engage with and collaborate with cross‑functional business partners to resolve accounting issues proactively and assist with planning, forecasting, regulatory, and business decision processes. Present operating results to leadership as needed. (15%) Audit and Regulatory Support – Interact with internal and external auditors to support required audits. Support the regulatory process, including data requests and external stakeholder interactions. (15%) Process Improvements and Special Projects – Analyze current processes and procedures, leveraging new technologies to recommend, develop, and drive improvements. Participate in special projects related to process improvements, automation, or changes in regulatory or accounting requirements. (15%) Job Scope Perform day‑to‑day activities associated with the monthly financial statement close process. Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely. Challenge current processes, collaborate across the company to identify improvement opportunities, and resolve issues. Work is varied and challenging, requiring judgment, initiative, and ingenuity. Engage team members, support Exelon’s Cultural Pillars of Development, DEI, Innovation, and Community Engagement, and provide coaching to less experienced teammates. The role may require overtime, weekend work, and limited travel. Minimum Education Required High School/GED. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent is preferred for entry‑level positions. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of accounting theory, principles, practices, and regulations including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance. Ability to document a broad range of issues in work papers, disclosures, and memos. Strong analytical skills for evaluating data and exercising judgment in a variety of areas. Strong team‑building and leadership skills. Project management skills. Commitment to the highest standards of quality and integrity. Professionalism and respect for others. Preferred Qualifications MBA in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification. Public accounting experience. Regulatory, utility, FERC, SEC reporting, or energy industry experience. Understanding of analytical tools and artificial intelligence to improve processes and analysis. Demonstrated successful use of technology to improve process efficiency.
