AP/AR Accountant

Bill Rate: $25-27/HR Hours: 8-5 M-F Location: 2701 San Tomas Exp, Santa Clara CA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviews and/or processes billing/invoicing and enters data into the accounting databases. Submits cash applications to the vouchers/invoices. Researches and resolves accounts receivable issues.
• Analyzes records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries
• Assist in the closing of Monthly Variance Report. Analyzes accounting variances and prepares variance explanation reports.
• Prepares and/or reviews projections of accounting data to show effects of proposed changes on income and financial condition.
• Maintains, records, and reconciles billings and accounts receivables
• Examines financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles.
• Assist month-end accounting entries and reconciles discrepancies, posts to GL and reviews variances to budget.
• May be required to read and interpret contracts, legal documents, and other agreements. Ability to record complex business transactions in the general ledger.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Financial Knowledge:

• Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations.
• Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate to advanced figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions.
• Conducts intermediate to advanced financial analysis.
• Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts. Ability to assist with budget and forecast preparation.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-3+ years professional level accounting experience.

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
• Requires intermediate to advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite applications. Ability to design and produce various ad-hoc reports.
• Advanced knowledge of computer applications related to real estate accounting or financial management systems.

Scope of Responsibility:

• Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
• Able to solve problems and deal with a variety of options in varying situations.
