Registered Nurse RN Pre Admission Care Unit

Location & Shift Casper, Wyoming — Day shift, full‑time (40 hours per week). Two possible shift periods: 07:00AM–03:30PM or 08:00AM–04:30PM. Job Summary As a pre‑admission registered nurse (PAC RN), you will call assigned patients on behalf of the anesthesia team to review medical history, medications, NPO status before surgery, bathing, instructions for the day of surgery, and any patient concerns. PAC RNs also help acquire outside records and coordinate care between anesthesia and surgical teams. The environment is fast‑paced and requires critical thinking, time management, teamwork, excellent communication, and proficiency with Cerner and Teams. Based on performance and meeting deadlines, there is potential to work hybrid after orientation/onboarding is complete. Position Summary This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the RN or by others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan and provide appropriate care. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to plan and implement patient‑centered care and to evaluate outcomes. Core Functions Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within appropriate timeframe; reviews information from other health‑care team members; reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers; completes assessments and reassessments according to patient need and policy. Formulates a plan of care, including discharge plan, based on assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team; initiates care plans aligned with the medical plan; goals for patient are realistic, measurable, and developed with patient/family; considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific, and educational needs; collaborates with multidisciplinary team; reviews and revises plan of care to reflect changing patient needs. Implements plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of activities of the health‑care team; provides care based on physician orders and nursing plan; complies with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements; delegates appropriately and supervises nursing and non‑nursing personnel; promotes continuity of care by communicating patient status accurately and completely to other caregivers. Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises plan of care as needed; evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes; evaluates patient response and effectiveness of teaching. Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; documentation is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy; reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, and patient response; notes physician orders accurately and timely. Provides care based on best evidence; may participate in research activities within clinical practice; participates in unit or facility shared leadership; interacts in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors; promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes via timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care; actively participates in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; may participate in professional organizations. In some roles, may supervise staff and workflow of the department. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, including employees of other health‑care institutions, community providers, and agencies; clarifies information; works with clergy to provide spiritual support; synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to changes in health status. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in the state of practice, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice. BLS certification required. Experience in the clinical area for which the RN is applying is desired. Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area, demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute‑care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute‑care hospital setting, including work within the past 12 months as a RN in the specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a RN in a physician practice or an acute‑care setting. Home Health setting: must operate a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license; active auto insurance coverage required. Behavioral Health roles in Arizona require an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintenance throughout employment; an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Other state–specific card or clearance requirements apply to respective Banner positions as described. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred.
