Join a Growing Cardiothoracic Surgery Program We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cardiothoracic APP (Physician Assistant or Acute Care NP) to join our expanding cardiothoracic surgery program. The position offers a balanced blend of operative first assisting, ICU management, and perioperative patient care within a high-volume cardiac program. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a collaborative environment alongside cardiothoracic surgeons and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes across a continuum of care. Qualified Candidates/Details Graduated from an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program Have a South Carolina license or the ability to get a South Carolina license prior to starting 2 or more years’ experience in first-assist for adult cardiothoracic surgical procedures (CABG, valves, aortic surgery) or other complex surgical procedures Endoscopic saphenous vein harvest (EVH) preferred (willing to train) Participate in urgent and emergent operative cases Intensive Care Unit & Inpatient Management Daily management of postoperative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients Hemodynamic assessment and management Coordination of multidisciplinary teams Discharge planning and transition of care Participation in night and weekend OR call with expected coverage 1:3. No overnight shifts required Procedural Responsibilities Preferred candidates will have experience with: Chest tube placement and management Central venous catheter placement Arterial line placement Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) removal Training Opportunities Advanced perioperative cardiothoracic procedures Ideal Candidate Profile You are a team-oriented APP who enjoys both the technical aspects of cardiothoracic surgery and the complexity of managing critically ill post-operative patients.
