Position Summary The Human Resources Manager, reporting to the Director of Active Learning, leads high‑volume student employment operations, hiring, onboarding, payroll, benefits and training for over 500 regular and temporary employees across multiple programs. The role also oversees day‑to‑day HR functions across Active Learning and the Office of Instruction, serving as liaison between departments and University Human Resources. Responsibilities Manage creation, posting and fulfillment of all full‑time, student and part‑time positions via HRIS. Lead hiring, search committee coordination, applicant communication, and onboarding processes aligned with academic calendars. Oversee classification changes, promotions, HR actions and administer graduate assistantship waivers. Execute separation activities and conduct exit interviews. Collaborate with HR liaisons and UHR on training, policy, benefits, FMLA and other workforce initiatives. Maintain detailed payroll records, including split funding models, and serve as primary payroll authority for faculty, staff and student employees. Review, reconcile and approve payroll for accuracy and deadlines. Prepare ad‑hoc salary requests and supplements for submission to the Director of Academic Affairs. Maintain secure personnel files and ensure timely completion of required forms. Identify opportunities to streamline HR and payroll workflows to improve efficiency. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Active Learning. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and at least 2 years of professional experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing high‑volume, semester‑based student employment operations. Strong knowledge of UGA HRIS systems. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Ability to interpret and implement HR policies and procedures. Sound judgment in handling confidential information.
