Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant

Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant (Hartford, CT; Rocky Hill, CT) Goldberg Segalla is a national civil litigation law firm that represents major national and regional companies and insurance carriers in all aspects of business counseling, risk assessment, and dispute resolution, including representation in various types of claims, controversies, and litigation involving personal and other injuries, property damage, contract disputes, and business torts. Goldberg Segalla has an immediate opportunity for a Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant in our Hartford, CT office. Essential Job Functions Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Calendar, and Excel. Knowledge of legal documents and terminology as it relates to Workers’ Compensation, such as subpoenas, affidavits of service, and affirmations. Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies. Assist with filings, appeals, rebuttals, and other various motions. Draft demand letters and pursue discovery from opposing counsel. Draft and complete affidavit of service. Manage and calendar placeholders. Save all emails, documents, and filings in the document management system. Send out hearing, interim, and deposition reports. Open and close files in addition to completing information sheets. Coordinate witness preparation per business needs. Maintain caseload and/or hearing trackers per business needs. Assist with budgets and rejected invoices. Serve surveillance and assist with evidence cover letter. Daily management of attorney’s billable entries as needed. Daily reminder of deadlines. Organize and reassign documents and emails within the case management system. Other assigned duties. Required Skills, Abilities & Experience Associate’s degree preferred, 2+ years of administrative experience. Workers’ Compensation experience preferred. Clear communication and information exchange in English. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to observe and assess data and documents in printed form and on computer screens. Willingness to work beyond normal hours. Team‑oriented with the ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision. Ability to respond and maintain confidentiality of information or adversarial inquiries. Benefits This position also offers bonuses and a full benefits package.
