The Cancer Research Institute (CRI), established in 1953 and headquartered in New York City, is the preeminent U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to saving more lives by fueling the discovery and development of powerful immunotherapies for all cancers.

The Cancer Research Institute's research funding supports the entire continuum of basic discovery through early-stage clinical development of novel cancer immunotherapies.

Role:

The Social Media Manager owns the day-to-day execution of CRI's social media presence. They are responsible for bringing the brand to life across channels, building and nurturing our online community, and expanding CRI's overall reach and impact.

Responsibilities:

• Create social content across all channels with a focus on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, tailoring content uniquely to each platform.
• Demonstrate strong copywriting skills, able to make otherwise scientific and dense content approachable on social media for our audience.
• Manage the brand's content regardless of format, such as in other text-based content channels like Reddit and Bluesky.
• Stay up to date with new and emerging platforms and trends, proactively recommending implementation when relevant.
• Uphold brand standards, ensuring the organization's messaging is consistent and engaging across platforms.
• Build and nurture CRI's online community through active engagement, thoughtful responses, and participation in relevant conversations. Goes beyond typical community engagement and takes pride in fostering an engaging space for our audience on channels.
• Monitor performance and optimize content, using social analytics and platform insights to understand what is working and continuously improve execution.
• Willing and eager to test and experiment with the goal of expanding the organization's impact.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in social media management for a brand.
• Understands how to create compelling content, including in copy and graphics.
• Knows each channel's algorithms, how content is served, and has a passion for evolving the brand presence alongside each social channel.
• Intrinsically understands what makes content resonate on social media.
• Ability to digest and respond to social strategy from other strategists on the team, translating that strategy into powerful and compelling content.
• Understands reporting data, able to draw analysis from performance patterns and pivot content direction based on analytics.
• Works well and thrives in a close knit team environment.

We offer competitive compensation and benefits tailored to factors such as location, role complexity, and experience. For roles in Burlingame, CA or New York City, the estimated base salary range is $70K-85K per year.
