The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas' Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center. When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds - 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW's first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. JOB SUMMARY

Works under minimal supervision to provide skilled mechanical work installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, cooling and steam equipment in assigned university building on one of three work shifts. Work Location: Dallas, Texas - onsite 100% of time. Shift Requirement: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent, or Vocational School Experience 3 years of experience in operation and maintenance of large (25,000 cfm) air handling equipment, steam pressure reducing stations, chilled water systems, pumps, high pressure boilers, and auxiliary equipment and control systems, must be proficient in at least 3 systems. Preferred Experience 5 years of experience in operation of large industrial HVAC systems, including chilled water, hot water, steam and related components. Intermediate level knowledge of MS Excel. JOB DUTIES

Performs more complex diagnostic HVAC repairs and serves as a lead mechanic on projects and system issues. Diagnoses root cause of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs. Informs appropriate supervisory or managerial personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies, and takes appropriate action. Repairs HVAC systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, AHU's, exhaust fans, piping, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring campus cooling and heating needs are met. Works with vendors and contractors getting quotes for equipment repairs. Assists as needed with vendors to ensure proper repairs are made to the equipment. Support area shift coverage, after hours or extended projects as needed and assists in major maintenance repairs. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and equipment failures. Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Trains and mentors new personnel in area of expertise as required. Teaches basic knowledge of codes and proper tool use. Trains lower-level mechanics as needed to perform tasks. Maintains tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition. Works with other mechanics and shops to ensure that equipment room spaces are free of trash, moisture leaks, unnecessary equipment, or an unsafe condition. May be required to perform job duties of HVAC Mech III in their absence. Acts in a leadership capacity in the absence of the shop foreman or higher-level HVAC Mechanic. Performs other duties as assigned.
