Systems Administrator

We’re looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to step into a key onsite IT role supporting a business-critical technology environment in Kansas City, KS. This is a 3–12 month contract opportunity created by an immediate staffing need, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right person. If you’re a hands‑on Systems Administrator who can come in, understand the environment quickly, solve problems, and keep critical systems running securely and reliably, this is worth a conversation. The Opportunity You’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day administration and support of a broad enterprise IT environment, including servers, endpoints, Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, identity and access management, cybersecurity, backups, networking, and cloud services. This isn’t a narrowly defined support role. You’ll work across infrastructure and operations, handle Tier 2 and Tier 3 escalations, partner with vendors, troubleshoot complex issues, and identify opportunities to automate and improve how the environment operates. What You’ll Be Doing Administer Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive Manage Active Directory, user accounts, groups, permissions, MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC, and privileged access Maintain Windows and/or Linux servers, virtualization platforms, storage, and supporting infrastructure Manage endpoints, software deployments, patching, licensing, asset inventory, and technology lifecycle activities Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and overall infrastructure health Support endpoint security, vulnerability remediation, security monitoring, system hardening, and incident response Administer backup and recovery systems, restore testing, disaster recovery procedures, and business continuity documentation Support DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, wireless connectivity, firewalls, and network troubleshooting Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for complex user, endpoint, server, network, cloud, and application issues Use PowerShell and other automation tools to eliminate repetitive work and improve administrative efficiency Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, system diagrams, asset records, and change records Coordinate with technology vendors and service providers on escalations, licensing, repairs, renewals, and technical issues What We’re Looking For Strong hands‑on Systems Administration experience in an enterprise environment Experience administering Microsoft Azure and Entra ID Strong Active Directory and identity/access management knowledge Experience supporting servers, virtualization, endpoints, and network infrastructure Working knowledge of cybersecurity, backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity PowerShell scripting and automation experience Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to handle Tier 2/3 escalations Ability to work independently, prioritize issues, and communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders A proactive mindset focused on reliability, security, documentation, and continuous improvement Work Arrangement: 100% onsite Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Compensation: $40–$50/hour Potential: Opportunity for permanent employment for the right candidate Candidates may be required to complete a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
