Job Category Academic Staff Employment Type Regular Job Profile Assistant Professor (CHS) Job Summary The Department of Radiology offers a unique opportunity for a Nuclear Medicine Physician to support the Department of Radiology to contribute to our growing Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor on either the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track or Clinician Teacher (CT) track. This faculty member will pursue an academic career in Molecular Imaging and Radiotheranostics with opportunities for leadership roles in our radiology department within the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Additional opportunities may arise for clinical work in subspeciality radiology sections (Cardiovascular, Chest, Abdominal etc.) and are available for candidates eligible for American Boad of Radiology (ABR) certification in diagnostic radiology (DR). The University of Wisconsin Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Section is composed of experts in multiple areas including general nuclear medicine and PET imaging, theranostics, nuclear cardiology, PET/ MR, prostate cancer imaging and therapy, and the imaging and treatment of patients with thyroid cancer. Therapies in patients with various forms of cancer are routinely performed with unsealed sources, such as radioactive iodine in patients with thyroid disease,177-Lu DOTATATE for patients with neuroendocrine tumors and 177-Lu vipivotide tetraxetan for patients with metastatic prostate cancer. The section is part of a major expansion of the UW theranostics program using both clinically approved and investigational agents. This is a growing area with state-of-the-art imaging equipment including PET/CT, PET/MR and SPECT/CT. The section offers both a nuclear medicine residency and a PET/molecular imaging fellowship program. Full time (100 percent) This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS), Clinical Assistant Professor (CT), and Clinical Professor (CT). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. Key Job Responsibilities Clinical duties will be assigned in the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section and will include the following duties: Performing and interpreting the clinical nuclear medicine PET and nuclear Cardiology studies Evaluating and treating radiotheranostic patients with a high level of excellence. This position will play a central part in the teaching program engaging with radiology residents and nuclear residents in lectures, regular imaging and radiotheranostics clinical conferences, journal clubs, protocol reviews, as well as side-by-side instruction in the clinic. This position will also participate in medical student teaching. Opportunities exist for participation and development of our nuclear medicine residency program and emerging theranostics training. The Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section offers an abundance of opportunities for multi-disciplinary clinical and translational molecular imaging and radiotheranostics research, ranging from artificial intelligence, radiotheranostics and dosimetry and novel translational radiopharmaceuticals. Opportunities exist for participation and development of our nuclear medicine residency program and emerging theranostics training. The Nuclear Medicine section offers an abundance of opportunities for multi-disciplinary clinical and translational molecular imaging and radiotheranostics research, ranging from artificial intelligence, radiotheranostics and dosimetry and novel translational radiopharmaceuticals. All Faculty: Teach medical students, residents, and fellows CHS: Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. Department The UW Department of Radiology consists of more than 170 faculty across 13 sections, reading over 1,000,000 diagnostic scans per year. We train more than 50 residents and fellows per year and have an extensive presence throughout the medical student curriculum.
