Senior Officer, Planned Giving & Philanthropic Development Full Time Management Los Angeles, CA, US 1 Attachments 4 days ago Requisition ID: 1179 Senior Officer, Planned Giving & Philanthropic Development Starting salary range: $132,000-$138,000/Annually Biweekly $5,076.92-$5,307.69 This is an in-office position for the first 100 days. Requires in-office work five (5) days per week. Following the first 100 days, staff have the flexibility to work two (2) days remotely. Mandatory in-office workdays are Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Only applicants who reside in California and submit a cover letter will be considered. ***CCF IS A MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION EMPLOYER*** The Senior Officer, Planned Giving & Philanthropic Development plays a key support and coordination role within the Office of Philanthropy, advancing California Community Foundation's planned giving program and its engagement with donors and professional advisors. This position manages a portfolio of planned giving and legacy prospects, serving as a consistent point of contact who moves donors and their advisors from initial interest through gift commitment. The Senior Officer also provides expertise in planned giving instruments—bequests, CRTs, CLTs, QCDs, and DAFs—preparing gift illustrations and donor- and advisor-facing materials that support the Director of Advisor Relations & Gift Planning's broader engagement strategy, while mentoring junior development staff and serving as a working lead among development support colleagues. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain relationships with professional advisors — attorneys, wealth managers, CPAs, trust officers, and financial planners — throughout Greater Los Angeles. Manage a portfolio of planned giving and legacy prospects, moving donors and advisors from initial interest through gift commitment. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of planned giving activity, prospect movement, and advisor relationships in CCF's CRM system. Serve as an internal resource on planned giving vehicles — bequests, CRTs, CLTs, QCDs, and DAFs — preparing gift illustrations to support donor and advisor conversations. Draft and coordinate donor-facing materials, including gift proposals, stewardship communications, and impact updates. Process new fund openings and prepare planned giving Letters of Intent (LOIs), coordinating required documentation and fund agreements. Provide scheduling, logistics, and follow-up support for advisor meetings, roundtables, educational events, and webinars. Serve as a first point of contact for incoming planned giving and development inquiries, escalating complex gift questions to the Director as needed. Partner with Marketing, Communications & Storytelling, and with Philanthropic Impact Advisors, to align planned giving materials and conversations with CCF's brand and Strategic Framework. Mentor junior development support staff and serve as a working lead among development support colleagues. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, Nonprofit Management, Finance, or a related field required; progress toward or completion of a recognized planned giving credential — CFRE, CAP, CSPG, or ChFC — preferred. 5–7 years of experience in development, fundraising, or donor relations in a philanthropic or nonprofit setting, including experience supporting or coordinating relationships with donors and/or professional advisors. Experience maintaining CRM records, donor pipelines, or gift tracking systems. Working knowledge of planned giving instruments — bequests, CRTs, CLTs, QCDs, and DAFs — required. Strong communication skills, both written and in person, including the ability to draft proposals, stewardship communications, and impact updates. Skilled at coordinating and supporting relationships with donors and professional advisors, including attorneys, wealth managers, CPAs, trust officers, and financial planners. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with sound independent judgment. Genuine commitment to equity, community, and the philanthropic sector, and to connecting donor generosity to community impact in Los Angeles County. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Working knowledge of fundraising and donor development practices, including donor communications, acknowledgment, and stewardship. Technical expertise in planned giving vehicles and legacy instruments — bequests, CRTs, CLTs, QCDs, and DAFs — sufficient to prepare gift illustrations and support donor and advisor conversations. Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and professional advisors, including attorneys, wealth managers, CPAs, trust officers, and financial planners. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting proposals, stewardship communications, and impact updates. Experience managing donor portfolios, coordinating prospect movement, and supporting legacy gift stewardship. Proficiency with CRM platforms for pipeline tracking, reporting, and relationship documentation, with a willingness to learn new tools and technologies. Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with accuracy and sound independent judgment. Ability to serve as a working lead and mentor to junior development support staff. Ability to collaborate across departments and represent CCF professionally with donors, advisors, and the broader philanthropic community. After one year of service, all full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement of up to $15,000 for higher education. CCF also offers a student loan repayment program of $100/month for all full-time employees after one year of service.
